Consumers' top-rated restaurant chains offer solid value, new Technomic data shows

Data from Technomic’s Consumer Brand Metrics (CBM) program, which surveys consumers about their most recent restaurant visits, confirms that top-rated restaurant concepts continue to be chains that deliver strong value on high-quality food and beverage. Data from more than 20,000 consumers surveyed in the third quarter reveals that the chains scoring highest on overall visit satisfaction this quarter were also highly rated on the value of their menu items.

“The ability for restaurants to provide value through high-quality menu items is strongly associated with outstanding performance in the eyes of the consumer,” says Darren Tristano, Executive Vice President at Technomic. “When consumers consider a restaurant’s value proposition, they’re thinking about much more than just price. The quality of the food for the money spent is critical, and goes a long way toward satisfying customers.”

Chains with the highest overall visit satisfaction ratings from consumers in the third quarter: More than 121 leading restaurant chains are included in Technomic’s Consumer Brand Metrics: Restaurants online database, which allows operators to track their performance against competitors on 62 different attributes regarding food, service, atmosphere, value, convenience, brand image and more. Chains can also analyze their results by region, demographic group or designated market area. The consumer feedback is based on ongoing data collection and compiled from a nationally representative sample of more than 130,000 consumer restaurant visits to date.
