VANCOUVER, Wash. – August 14, 2012 – Results from more than 5,000 consumers surveyed have put Papa Murphy’s Take ‘N’ Bake Pizza on top of its competitors yet again. In the second annual “Consumer Picks,” administered by trade publication Nation’s Restaurant News and research firm WD Partners, Papa Murphy’s emerged #1 within the pizza category in nine out of 10 attributes surveyed. What’s more, the company’s 71.2% “Overall Score” in the pizza category is 12.8 points ahead of its nearest competitor. When ranked among 97 other Limited Service Restaurants (quick service and fast casual chains), Papa Murphy’s reached the #2 slot. The survey rated the following attributes for each restaurant: Atmosphere, Cleanliness, Craveability, Food Quality, Likely to Recommend, Likely to Return, Menu Variety, Reputation, Service and Value. Other companies Papa Murphy’s out-ranked include Firehouse Subs, Five Guys Burgers and Fries and In-N-Out Burger.
The data collected revealed that “Food Quality” is the most important attribute to consumers. Papa Murphy’s ranked #1 in “Food Quality” in the Pizza segment, a full 6.6 points ahead of the nearest competitor. “Restaurants have always been about food, but the quality of that food has never been more important,” wrote Robin Lee Allen, executive editor at Nation’s Restaurant News, in the publication’s August 6th issue.

The 2012 survey results are based on 130,000 restaurant visits made by a pool of 5,346 consumers in the six months following December 15, 2011. Queried online, the consumers were asked to rate 171 brands on each of the 10 attributes. The brands were divided into four categories, Limited Service, Family Dining, Casual Dining and Fine Dining.
